Since beginning a career in photography in 2007, I have done it all.  This is not a brag.  I have owned a studio, I have photographed in people's homes, I have shot sessions in the wildest, weirdest locations outdoors.  I have photographed newborns, babies, toddlers, families, maternity, professional headshots, business headshots, real estate, products, and then of course...high school seniors.

Then I took a break, and I focused on my family.  And I had a lot of time to reflect on what truly made me happy.  My favorite sessions have always been seniors.  I love the confidence at that age.  Or, if there is a lack of it, I love the confidence they get when I show them how beautiful they are in a photo.  I love the serious expressions and the silly smiles, the portrait of the grown up they are combined with the portrait of the child they still hold inside them.  There is something fleeting and wild about this time in your life - whether I'm speaking to the parent or the senior - it won't last more than a few minutes (or at least it seems that way).  With my camera, we can stop the crazy clock and just capture what this moment looks like, before you step out that door and onto the next chapter in your life.

Parents, I'm a mom too, of a 17 year old daughter and a 13 year old son.  I am in that whirlwind with you.  I know what it's like, and I know how precious every last second is with your senior.  Print it big, print it beautiful, don't hide it on your phone (you own the files!)...but REMEMBER this time!
